Pro Action Cafe. Pufarine
The two topics above have no connection. Or maybe they do... I've been to my first meeting of Pro Action Cafe this evening. I've been a part of Pro Action when was not yet a World Cafe nor an NGO, but just a meeting of people with ideas and curiosities, and I was curious to see how the concept expanded.
I had a lovely evening. I didn't come up with any brilliant idea on how to generate income and make a difference in the world. Do I want to much if I hope to get one of those each year? Time will tell.
I run into another ex-stagiaire, we were together at one of the sub-committees, and we chatted a bit (but we'll get together later for a more extensive female chat!). It's a small world after all ;-)
We were three Romanian women at the gathering. Of course, probably there were more than 3 Germans, but Germany is a much better represented country in Brussels, so I though 3 is quite a big number for Romania. The audience was rather mixed, as all the expats meetings are in Brussels. Most of the Belgians here are coming from a mixed family, with a local parent and one from another exotic destination.
The meeting was held in the building of EHSAL, European University College, an education establishment I never heard before (would have been good if I had) . Is located downtown Brussels, in a 7 or 8 eight floors building. I might take a course here next year, I if get permanent residence here - otherwise it is 10 times more expensive (is about 500 Euros if you are a resident, and 5000 if you are not). I was hoping things to work the other way round - if I enroll as a student to get residence in Belgium. Well, enough about making plans, God had a good laugh this evening already. It is good I know about this opportunity - knowledge is power, as it's been said.
And now about "pufarine" - that's a kind of Romanian breakfast cereals. It has been with me during the communist regime, when it was one of the highest valued sweet. And now I just have a crave for it...
