About Love and the Publishing Industry
Love is about leaving other people fulfill their dreams, no matter how crazy or unreasonable may seem to you. Love is about disagreeing but defending the other’s right to his/her opinion, place in the world and to the pursuit of happiness (as so lovely puts it the US Constitution). Love is about letting go.
Publishing a book is also about letting go. You spend time with a book and it was all yours, to mould into any shape, sometime stubborn, sometime flexible and open. It seemed like a relation that would last a lifetime. And at one point you discover you have to let go. That book, which grew to be part of you, which was filling your dreams and giving you hopes, it belongs now to the world. And you have to let it go, you even have to give a party for that. You turn all the sorrow into joy. Because no matter how much it hurts, you know it is all for the best. As I was saying, love is about letting the other one fly high.
